BYC enjoys a uniquely casual approach to sailboat racing, and we enjoy racing with other club racers from across the lake. We race to practice and sharpen our handling and navigational skills, but also to enjoy time with friends new and old. We’re big believers that we all have something to learn, and we welcome friendly sailors–green and salty alike. For those that associate racing with yelling and swearing skippers, BYC Racing offers a refreshing change of pace.
We typically hold 8 club races (including the Moonlight Regatta, Renshaw Regatta, and Commodore’s Cup which are lake-wide and open to all sailors/clubs). However, we do need advance notice of participants (especially those from other clubs) so that we can plan accordingly. Please see the Boulder Yacht Club Facebook page for race-specific information throughout the season.
Everyone is invited to participate in the racing program. There are many ways to get involved, from crewing on another boat, racing your own, setting marks, or assisting the race committee as needed. The club plans social events following most races, so you and your crew/friends/family can continue the fun even after you’re off the water.
